Book the venue and lock the date. Until the date is fixed, nothing else can be scheduled. After that, work backward: sponsorship outreach begins about 105 days out, registration opens around 90 days out, registration closes 14 days before, and the course needs a final count around 10 days out.

Usually only partially, and only when the beneficiary is a qualified 501(c)(3). The portion covering the value the player receives, the round of golf, cart, and meal, is generally not deductible. Direct donations above the entry fee usually are. This is a question for your accountant, not for us.
